Amelia's House and Fancy Shoes

Who's there?

Is the big bad wolf out there?

Ok, come on in and check out my new kicks! Pretty sweet, right?

Bunhead

I was instructed that Amelia was to wear two buns at the top of her head as part of her costume for her dance recital. Easier said than done. Amelia definitely has Hansen hair. It is super fine and very straight. I'm actually jealous, but it doesn't play well with buns. I needed practice, lots and lots of practice. Here are the results from my first practice session. Ignore the buns and just look at how cute she is!

I've since talked to her dance teacher and we are now just doing half ponytails. Much, much easier!

Dorland Grandkids

I love the look on Matthew's face in this picture. It looks like he is completely enamored with Alli. Really though, who isn't?

I had to include this one as well. I think Rob was acting silly in the background. He definitely got a reaction!
Let me know if you want me to email a picture.

New Muffin Apron

I planned on making this apron/smock ages ago. Amelia only owns one apron and it is a Christmas one. That just doesn't cut it for our Saturday muffin making. I thought the giggling monkeys were cute and fitting for Amelia. It looks a little crazy with her red outfit underneath, but is pretty cute in real life. She's a big fan of the 3 giant pockets in front. Oh, hey Ayer!

Library

One can never have too many library books checked out at one time. Even if they are a little challenging to carry.

Princess Pink and Crazy Dots

OR The one in which I let Amelia pick her fabrics.

First up, a princessy pink confection (Simplicity 1922) with a ruffled tulle lining to keep the skirt at optimum volume. It's getting harder and harder to get Amelia to cooperate for pictures, but this one should be worth it. I let Amelia pick the fabric and she wanted pink. I couldn't convince her to let me get something with other colors. Only pink would do.

Next up a handkerchief hem t-shirt. This one happened because she really, really wanted the fabric and I had to come up with a plan to use it. I originally was going for a dress, but decided it was a little too crazy for a dress. I got this t-shirt pattern from a pack of PDF patterns I purchased a few months ago. It is the Banyan Top. It is also the first time I used a double needle to hem a knit. It worked fantastically and I can't believe it has taken me so long to use one.
