Zippered Pouches

I made a bunch of these for Christmas gifts this year. I knew I wanted one for myself, so I finally got around to making a couple for me. I think they are the perfect size to hold those little items that float around in your purse.

I got the tutorial from Skip to My Lou.

Sandwich cookie

Here's Amelia eating one of those vanilla sandwich cookies. She ate it just like she ate the Doritos. Lick off the good stuff first.

Amelia Update

Amelia was looking exceptionally pretty, so I had to take some photos. She was busy eating yogurt covered raisins. She is convinced they are candy. The photo on the right is the look she was giving Ayer after he ate a raisin she dropped on the floor. You can tell in the left photo, he was just waiting for his chance!

Here's an update on some of the things Amelia is doing and likes nowadays.

In the last couple of weeks, she's gotten very good at saying 2 word phrases and a few sentences. Some of her favorites are I strong!, More (insert food here), Dada blocks (when she wants Rob to play with her), Clifford dog, Whoa buddy! and my personal favorite Hey Guys! She'll shout that until we both give her attention. Some of her sentences are There you go and I'll get you.

Songs with actions that she likes are Itsy Bitsy Spider and the Wheels on the Bus. She'll actually tell us which verse of Wheels on the Bus she wants to sing. She still loves her Bubble Guppies and is now enamored with Veggie Tales. She has a favorite video on YouTube called the Fruit Train. I'll see if I can get a video of her watching it.

Cooking

Amelia got a set of pots and pans for Valentine's Day. She went straight to work stirring up some soup for dinner.

Cuddle Time

Rob was watching TV when Amelia came up to him and asked to sit on his lap. She was so comfortable that she decided to take a little nap.

Reports are that Amelia was the hit of story time. Everyone thought she looked super adorable!

Serger Practice

Rob gave me a serger for Christmas and I finally got brave enough to try it out. I cut up an old t-shirt and made a cute little Valentine's tunic/dress for Amelia. It didn't turn out super fantastic, but that's ok. I didn't put much time into it.

Oh, and that ruffle across the shoulder, I accidentally cut a hole in the front of the dress and had to improvise to cover it up. We'll call it a design feature.

Sunglasses

Kleenex and Styrofoam

Who would have thought a square of styrofoam and a kleenex could provide so much entertainment? I think she practiced wrapping the square for a good 20 minutes. That is forever in Amelia time!

Imitating Daddy

Amelia got a Clifford the Big Red Dog for Christmas. She really likes him. Randomly, one day she decided to sit on him and have him give her a ride. Then she decided to be just like her Daddy. Rob tackles Ayer all the time, so Amelia thought Clifford needed to be tackled too.

Hat!

A couple years ago, my friend Liz knitted me a scarf and hat for Christmas. The first hat that she knitted was a lot smaller than she anticipated, so she had to make a larger one. I love them and now that Amelia is a little bigger, we now have matching hats. I think she looks much cuter in hers than I do though.

She's not super thrilled in this picture. She was just getting over a cold and wanted a nap. Immediately after this picture was taken she laid her head on my shoulder to cuddle. Love her!

Family Plaque

I have the worst time taking good pictures. I either need to figure out a new method to photograph my creations, or save up for a fancy schmancy camera. That's an uninteresting story for another day. We have a fairly large blank wall at the foot of our stairs. I've decided to create some sort of design wall type thing with it.

I've seen these family name plaques around the internet, but they cost way more than I wanted to spend. With a wood plaque from Michael's, some spray paint, and the first stencil I've ever created, here's what I came up with. It's pretty close to what I had envisioned.

Puppy Love

 Amelia loves when it's time for Ayer to eat. As soon as she sees us pick up his bowl, she runs over to his spot and waits. Then she makes him nervous by trying to stand super close to him while he eats. Most days we can distract her so Ayer can eat in peace. Not this day! She had to help him.

Windows

I'm sure you've seen in old posts that our living room windows have been without trim for several months. This weekend, Rob and I both finally did something about it. He worked on the trim, while I worked on the window treatments. They will eventually be turned into roman shades, but for now they are just plain. At least our windows don't look naked anymore!

Doritos

Amelia taught us a new way to eat Doritos this weekend. It is an interesting technique. I don't think Rob and I will be switching to the new method anytime soon.
